Meet David Hobson - By day, David is an adult cardiac surgeon with Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute, doing most of his work right here in Concord at Atrium Health Cabarrus. His work keeps him busy, but outside the hospital, he is happiest spending time with his family and enjoying the community he is fortunate enough to serve.
At home, David is husband to Jill, a professor of Biomedical Engineering at Wake Forest School of Medicine, and dad to identical eight year old twins, Charlie and Teddy. The family also includes three dogs: Ruby, who is 14 and a half, Maggie, who is 3, and Willoughby, who is 1. With two energetic boys and three dogs, there is certainly never a dull moment at the Hobson household.
David says there is no dance experience to speak of, but he is always up for supporting the community he loves. He and his family enjoy living in downtown Concord and supporting the local businesses and people who make the community special.
This year, that means stepping outside his comfort zone and onto the stage for Dancing for the Arts. He may be new to the dance floor, but with a little practice and the support of his family, he is ready to bring some moves!
Getting to know David:
What's your go-to karaoke song (or the one you'd sing if you had to)?
"The Muse by the Wood Brothers."
What's one thing people are always surprised to learn about you?
"I played college football."
If you could spend a day with any artist, living or historical, who would it be?
"Da Vinci. He had such an eclectic array of interests. Plus, he would probably get a kick out of learning about his association with the Ninja Turtles."
David is paired with Michelle Trombley, a dancer with 10+ years of experience and an alumni as a professional dancer/cheerleader for the Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Rage. Now working with Dance Dreams and Legacy Dance, Michelle specializes in Hip Hop, Jazz and Cheer Dance.
You can support David and Michelle by making a donation and spreading the word. Then mark your calendar for November 7, 2026, when they'll light up the stage at the Davis Theatre!

The Cabarrus Arts Council was founded in 1980 in response to the North Carolina Arts Council's plan to establish a local arts council in every county. In 1982 the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners selected the arts council to serve as its Designated County Partner, receiving and distributing Grassroots funding from the state and the state arts council.
Today the arts council programs and operates the Davis Theatre and The Galleries, conducts one of North Carolina's largest art-in-education programs for both the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City school systems, supports arts organizations and artists through grants and workshops and serves as a catalyst and consultant for public and corporate art.
