Meet Betsy Cunningham - By day, Betsy is the self-proclaimed Wacky Waving Inflatable Tube Arm Guy of BG Staffing. Her official title is Vice President of Strategic Engagement, where she oversees the companys national tradeshow and association involvement, works with the Strategic team to bring in some of their highest-level customers, and serves as one of the public faces of the organization. In other words, Betsy spends a lot of time making sure people know who BG Staffing is and why they should be paying attention.
At home, Betsy is wife to her college sweetheart and mom to two beautiful girls, ages 18 and 8. She is also the youngest of five siblings, and the whole family remains incredibly close.
Betsy brings that same energy to her community. She is an active member of Cabarrus Rotary, serves as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner, volunteers with Meals on Wheels, and stays deeply involved with both her church and the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association.
As for dancing? Betsy has zip, zero, nada experience. But she comments that she can do a mean shopping cart and pencil sharpener, which frankly sounds like a pretty solid starting repertoire.
This year, Betsy is taking those two signature moves and seeing what happens when Dancing for the Arts asks her to take things to the next level. We have a feeling the stage is about to get a whole lot more energetic.
Getting to know Betsy:
If you had to give a TED Talk on something completely unrelated to your job, what would you talk about?
Either finding your passion in life, or homeschooling Vs public education. I was a lifelong homeschool kid, and now both my children go to regular schools. Both are great if done well!
If you could spend a day with any artist, living or historical, who would it be?
BARRY FLIPPING MANILOW. I adore him, so much, always have. I have seen him in concert 4 times, know all his songs by heart and have such a love for him!
Betsy is paired with Zaria Hamilton, a dancer, instructor, and performer with 12 years of experience. With a foundation in hip hop and jazz funk, along with experience in contemporary styles, Zaria brings a versatile approach to movement that combines creativity, performance, and connection. She is passionate about creating energetic, inclusive dance experiences and believes movement can build confidence, bring people together, and inspire others.
You can support Betsy and Zaria by making a donation and spreading the word. Then mark your calendar for November 7, 2026, when they'll light up the stage at the Davis Theatre!

The Cabarrus Arts Council was founded in 1980 in response to the North Carolina Arts Council's plan to establish a local arts council in every county. In 1982 the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners selected the arts council to serve as its Designated County Partner, receiving and distributing Grassroots funding from the state and the state arts council.
Today the arts council programs and operates the Davis Theatre and The Galleries, conducts one of North Carolina's largest art-in-education programs for both the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City school systems, supports arts organizations and artists through grants and workshops and serves as a catalyst and consultant for public and corporate art.
