Meet Amos McClory - By day, Amos is enjoying retirement after a career that included serving as a union president with Philip Morris USA and as CEO of Logan Daycare. But retirement certainly has not slowed him down. Amos remains deeply involved in his community, serving on the NC NAACP State Executive Board, the Kannapolis Chapter Community Improvement Commission, and as an Elder at First Christian Church.
Family is at the heart of Amoss life. He is married, has one daughter, Tera, three grandchildren, and one very good friend, Deborah King. If he could give a TED Talk on anything, he would choose education, a fitting topic for someone who has dedicated so much of his life to serving others.
When Amos is not giving back to his community, you might find him antique shopping and searching for old treasures. And if you happen to catch him at karaoke, there is a good chance you will hear Under the Boardwalk.
As for his dance experience, Amos has a simple answer: ZERO.
So Dancing for the Arts will be a first for him, but he is bringing the same spirit of community, curiosity, and willingness to try something new that has shaped so much of his life. One thing you should know about Amos? He says people are always surprised to learn that he doesnt meet strangers. We have a feeling that by the time he leaves the dance floor, there will be a whole lot fewer strangers in the room.

The Cabarrus Arts Council was founded in 1980 in response to the North Carolina Arts Council's plan to establish a local arts council in every county. In 1982 the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners selected the arts council to serve as its Designated County Partner, receiving and distributing Grassroots funding from the state and the state arts council.
Today the arts council programs and operates the Davis Theatre and The Galleries, conducts one of North Carolina's largest art-in-education programs for both the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City school systems, supports arts organizations and artists through grants and workshops and serves as a catalyst and consultant for public and corporate art.
