Meet Amanda Reed - By day, Amanda is busy helping families plan for the future as an attorney and partner at Reed & Thompson, PLLC, a boutique estate planning, fiduciary law, and real estate firm serving clients throughout North Carolina and West Virginia. Her work focuses on estate planning, estate and trust administration, and real estate closings, where she helps clients protect what they have built and navigate some of lifes biggest transitions. Outside the office, Amanda is wife to Josh, with whom she is celebrating 10 years of marriage this year, and mom to Lily (14), Christopher (8), and Tobias (6).
Amandas formal dance career began and ended with approximately five minutes of tap lessons when she was six years old. She remembers absolutely nothing about the choreography, but she does have a very clear memory of wearing a pink bunny costume for the recital. According to her, the costume must have made a much bigger impression than the dancing.
Now Amanda is stepping back onto the stage for Dancing for the Arts with plenty of enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new. After all, she has spent years helping her clients prepare for lifes big moments. This time, she is preparing for one of her own, and we cannot wait to see what she brings to the dance floor.
Getting to know Amanda:
If you had to give a TED Talk on something completely unrelated to your job, what would you talk about?
"How to Be Ridiculously Busy and Still Volunteer for One More Thing. Apparently, I have never met a committee, community project, fundraiser, or good cause that I couldnt somehow find room for on my calendar. My TED Talk would probably explore my complete inability to say no to something that sounds worthwhileor funand how Ive convinced myself that there is always room for just one more thing. Dancing for the Arts may be Exhibit A."
What's your go-to karaoke song (or the one you'd sing if you had to)?
"In Da Club by 50 Cent. I can rap every word, and it was actually my most recent karaoke selection. I can also inexplicably rap just about every Nelly song ever made, with a heavy emphasis on E.I.. My musical talents are apparently very specificand firmly rooted in the early 2000s."
Amanda is paired with Jenny Grice, who has been a professional performer for Paramount Parks as well as many stage shows, print work and commercials. This is Jenny's 28th year teaching dance and 11th year as the founder and owner of Legacy Dance Company in Concord. Jenny specializes in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acro and ballet dance.

The Cabarrus Arts Council was founded in 1980 in response to the North Carolina Arts Council's plan to establish a local arts council in every county. In 1982 the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners selected the arts council to serve as its Designated County Partner, receiving and distributing Grassroots funding from the state and the state arts council.
Today the arts council programs and operates the Davis Theatre and The Galleries, conducts one of North Carolina's largest art-in-education programs for both the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City school systems, supports arts organizations and artists through grants and workshops and serves as a catalyst and consultant for public and corporate art.
